PRACTICE IN A WORKING CAFÉ
Our training centre is Mattina café in Bratislava’s Ružinov district. Students come here for their placement in the working café, among the guests.
The café is open to the public as usual. It serves speciality coffee from beans roasted by the family-run Diamond’s Roastery. A student joins the team and works alongside everyone else.
The student stands at the espresso machine, serves guests and prepares drinks. They learn the pace of a working café and what to do when something goes wrong.
There is always an experienced barista next to them. They help the student until they feel confident on their own. Nobody throws them in at the deep end and waits to see how it turns out.
We agree the scope of the placement with the school in advance, so the student and the teacher both know what to expect. They leave with real experience, not just a certificate.
